Postdoctoral position Geriatric Psychiatry Research Program and Spirituality and Mental Health Program McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School Belmont, MA
The McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School Geriatric Psychiatry Research Program, and Spirituality & Mental Health Program are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to work under the supervision of Brent Forester, MD, MSc, David Harper, PhD, and David H. Rosmarin, PhD, ABPP. This is a fully funded position requiring a minimum two-year commitment, and carries a Professional Appointment at McLean Hospital, and an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry of Harvard Medical School as Research Fellow.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM McLean Hospital maintains the largest neuroscience and psychiatry research program of any private psychiatric hospital in the United States and was recently named the #1 hospital in the country for psychiatric care by U.S. News and World Report.
The McLean Hospital Spirituality & Mental Health Program is a is a multifaceted initiative to meet the spiritual needs of McLean patients by providing spiritually-integrated care within multiple clinical programs throughout the hospital. We also conduct research on the relevance of spirituality to anxiety, mood, substance use, and other disorders, across the lifespan.
Our Geriatric Psychiatry Research Program (GPRP) aims to better understand the longitudinal trajectory of geriatric mood disorders and the relationship of mood disorders and cognitive functioning with advancing age. We also study the relationship between mood, cognition and neuroimaging biomarkers using fMRI, DTI and MRS techniques.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Generate scientific abstracts and manuscripts for submission and publication in conjunction with principal investigators • Develop and test hypotheses with existing datasets/studies, based on an understanding of the relevant scientific literature • Conduct and oversee data analytics • Oversee clinical research assistants in developing figures, tables, reference sections, etc, for poster presentations and manuscripts • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: • PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or a related field is required. • Strong record of academic achievement including publication of numerous scientific manuscripts, and conference abstracts, is required. • Candidates with interests and experience with geriatric mental health and/or spiritualty and mental health are strongly preferred. • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, professionalism, and respect for subjects’ rights and needs • Careful attention to detail • High degree of computer literacy with basic software used for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes • How to Apply:
